Walmart Savings Catcher

I absolutely LOVE the Walmart Savings Catcher. It is one of the easiest apps to use so it’s great for those who are just beginning to use apps to save (or earn) money! Once the app is all set up, all you have to do is scan the barcode at the bottom of your receipt (within 7 days of your purchase) and wait for the savings to roll in!

So how do you get started with the Savings Catcher? Luckily this feature is available within the Walmart app so you only have to have one app. Using the Walmart app, you can use Savings Catcher, browse the weekly ad, use Walmart Pay (similar to Apple Pay or Android Pay), plus much more!

First, log in to your Walmart account (or create a new account if you don’t already have one).  Once you are logged in, click on the menu and go to the Savings Catcher.  Once you’re there, scan your receipt barcode, and now your phone has an electronic copy of your receipt if you ever need it later. It usually takes 48-72 hours before you know what your savings will be, but you’ll receive a notification via email and on your phone once the app is done reviewing your receipt. You’ll be able to see which products were cheaper at other stores and what stores the cheaper prices were at.

You can keep accumulating your savings until your ready to cash out. There’s no minimum or maximum. It takes about 24 hours for the money to be transferred onto your ecard, but then it’s linked to your account and can be used online or in the store (using Walmart Pay)!

Walmart is slowly discontinuing their price matching now that they have their Savings Catcher feature on their app. Instead of keeping the money in your own pocket, Walmart is able to be sure that money will still be spent at their store. One great way to use this to your advantage is to let it accumulate all year and use it for Birthday and/or Christmas presents. Keep in mind that you can also use the gift card at Sams Club and if you have it transferred to a physical card, you can use it at the Sams Club gas stations too!

Buying a New Phone

You know that feeling when you love your phone, then it suddenly stops working? Unfortunately I have had that feeling that last couple of weeks. I had had a LG G3 phone for almost 2 full years when the SIM Card reader stopped working. I took it down to the AT&T store, but when they tried to hook it up to the machine, it couldn’t figure out what was wrong. I had two options: I could pay the $100 deductible for a new phone and return my broken phone, or I could pay out of pocket for a new phone and keep my broken phone (that still works great on wifi as a tiny tablet).

LG Phoenix 2

Well, I went searching on Amazon and I knew I wanted at least 16GB in my phone for all of the money-saving apps that I use. I found this phone, and although I wasn’t excited about getting another LG, we plan on changing carriers next year so I’ll probably only use this phone for about 6 months.     51ceomevayl-_sy90_

Since we’re getting ready to take a big family (Virginia City, Jelly Belly Factory, Golden Gate Bridge, and Disneyland), I wanted to be able to save as much money as possible. I was able to use my Amazon gift card balance and Amazon Payments (like PayPal, but for Amazon) and paid $0 OOP!! All of the money in my gift card account and Amazon Payments account came from doing various surveys, rebates, offers, etc in my spare time!
